My partner and I decided to adopt a cat at the end of 2020. We went to the pet store just to look around and get some cat supplies. Then we saw her. A beautiful calico cat with the most loving eyes I'd ever seen. The store was full of other people but she just stared at us the whole time we were there. We started the adoption process right away and took her home the next day.
Jadzia is the sweetest cat I've ever met but she's very shy around strangers, probably because we got her during the pandemic. She loves to cuddle and play with her little toy soccer balls. She also has a strict routine and tries to herd us into the bedroom when she decides it's bedtime. If we don't follow her to bed she starts meowing and biting random objects.

Eleanor was born unexpectedly in my closet when I was around 9 years old. My parents had adopted her mother, Queen Anne, a few weeks earlier without knowing she was pregnant. We gave away the other kittens but kept Eleanor because she and Anne had a very strong bond. I was super attached to Eleanor as well and took her with me when I first moved away from home.
Eleanor was very afraid of everything and everyone, aside from my dad and I, but loved to play with pipe cleaners when she thought no one was around. She was also an excellent hunter, I once woke up to her dropping a dead mouse for me on my pillow. She was a very finicky eater so I used to make her special treats from chicken hearts and livers (with her vet's guidance) to keep her calories up, I'm a lifelong vegetarian so this was super gross but she absolutely loved it.
I eventually I had to move far away and couldn't take her with so I gave her back to my parents. In August 2022 I visited my parents for the first time since before the pandemic and got to see her. I was surprised she still seemed to recognized me. Less than a week later she had a stroke and passed away at the age of 17. I'm so glad I got a chance to see her, though I wish I could've been with her at the end. I still miss her.
